LimeSurvey

There are situations in which you may need to create a survey. For example, you want to make some research regarding a product which was just released on the market or you just want to create a quiz test for your class, in case you are a teacher. For all these situations, you could just try out LimeSurvey.

LimeSurvey is basically a CMS or Content Management System which allows you to create your own survey website in no time. After downloading the archive from the producer's website, you will need to upload the contained files to your own server, by using FTP for example. After that, you need to follow the step by step wizard, in order to install LimeSurvey to your website. You shouldn't worry about this, as the wizard is clear and intuitive and all the options are well explained.

After the CMS is installed into your website, you will be able to access the administrator page after setting up a username and password. At this point, you will need to create a new survey by using the graphical toolbar presented in the upper part of the webpage. After entering a name for the survey, you should create a question group. Each survey can contain an unlimited number of question groups. The next step is to create the actual questions for the survey. For this, you will need to enter a question code, title, actual question text and type of answer.

Having all these steps followed, you should just activate the survey so that users can see it on the main page of your website. After a user completes the survey, you will be able to view detailed statistics regarding the question completion and also export these results to various file formats, like CSV or XML. From the main graphical toolbar of the CMS, you can add or remove admin users and also check the database for possible errors.
